Participation details

To register for HASTAC 2010:

1) Visit http://nucri.nu.edu/hastac/ to register. Registration is free.

Once you have completed registration:

2) Visit wave.google.com. Scroll to the bottom of the page to "Request an invitation." It will take 24-48 hours for your application to be approved and google will notify you that your wave account has been activated via the email you provided them. If you already have a wave account, then you are already one step ahead. For those unfamiliar with wave, we encourage you to test it out once your account goes active. Help for wave is available: http://www.google.com/support/wave/

Wave will be main way for conference participants to interact with one another. There are a variety of ways to interact, but the most common will include using Wave for live chat. For each presentation, a Wave will be pre-established that includes biographical information of the speaker(s), video, link, abstract, welcome statement and other presentation information.

You can view the conference schedule at: http://www.ichass.illinois.edu/HASTAC_Schedule.html. The conference will launch at 9 am CST on Thursday, April 15th and is currently slated to end by 7:30 pm on the Saturday, April 17th. You can attend all events by visiting the conference schedule link above and click on any presentation link to access the Wave. Presenters will be live at their scheduled times, and will check in to interact over the course of the conference.

Finally, if you want to participate in Second Life events (some very dynamic SL presentations are on the schedule):

3) visit www.secondlife.com to register for your free account and customize your avatar. There will be SURL's for the Second Life events that will take your avatar directly to the location for presentation. For those who want to participate, but do not want to meet in Second Life, there will be a Wave for interactive chat. See conference schedule for more details.

Feel free to direct friends, colleagues, community members to: ichass.illinois.edu/hastac2010 so that they too can join in this exciting event. We are already seeing quite a crowd of people register and tweet HASTAC 2010.
